Don’t like it, then do not watch it!

QUESTION

My friends at school all like watching horror movies, but I get nightmares after watching them. When I visit them my friends, they always turn on the same channels. I want to say to them that I do not don’t like it, but I am afraid that they would laugh at me. What should I do?

Hi, freaking out,

I’ve had the same feeling once when I was watching Running Man, a Chinese variety show. My friends all like to watch Chinese variety shows, particularly Running Man.

One day my neighbour Dolly texted:

Hey, wanna come over and watch RM? ^^

I texted back:

What is RM????
Dolly texted:
A verrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy fun TV show!

I was very interested in TV, especially mysteries, so I went to her house to watch.

It turned out that it was not my type of thing, but I didn’t not want to hurt Dolly’s feelings. Running Man is basically a bunch of adults playing childish games, which makes me think about goofy stuff like playing basketball with a ball of stinky old socks. Dolly, on the other hand, was really excited. She even stood up and chanted for one of the actors stars, which I personally believe is a dumb thing to do. I didn’t find anything fun or enjoyable, so I excused myself and went home.

The next day Dolly texted me again. In my response, I lied, texting:

I have a stomach ache; my mum said I should stay home. Sorry.

Dolly texted:

[sad face]OK…

That afternoon, by coincidence, I bumped into Dolly, in a park near my house. Dolly was really angry at me.
‘I thought you were resting at home!’ she shouted. I said, ‘Yeah, I was sort of okay though, in the afternoon.’ She stared at me, ‘Which idiot would believe that excuse!?’

So I explained my feelings of disinterest toward RM, but she still did not forgive me.

So Freaking Out, you might consider telling your friends the truth. I learned the lesson the hard way, by losing a precious friend.

Well done, Pluvia. This is another original and well-written homework. Grammar is really good, but I have added some helpful vocabulary where I think you needed it.

Also, you should start using contractions more, especially when trying to imitate informal conversation. For example, using don’t and I’ve instead of do not and I have.
